Note to Self (and Blog): Things to do in Los Angeles

I’m going back to Los Angeles in August for a few days, and I’m already looking forward to it. I miss my family and being myself.

Things I need to do, aside from my usual Los Angeles run (Santouka Ramen, All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ, Brodard, Jin Patisserie):

  1. Kogi Taco Truck
  2. Nom Nom Truck
  3. Mulholland Drive
  4. Bazaar
  5. Griffith Observatory
  6. See a movie in the cemetery

Something Cellulosis

While I was sleeping, a nice crust sealed my left eye shut and prying it open resulted in redness and swelling. I showed my eye doctor and asked him if he could fix me. Then I cringed when he said he wanted me to see a specialist because that basically means that my condition is abnormal or uncommon enough that a normal doctor can’t cure it.

Whenever I’m prompted to see a specialist, three questions usually follow: Will I need surgery? Is it cancer? Am I going to die (or, in this case, am I going to go blind)? I didn’t think it was anything to worry about until he said he wanted me to see the specialist today or first thing tomorrow morning, but not any time later than that. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it’s just a run-of-the-mill pink eye and not anything worse.

In the meantime, I’ve come up with three ways to conceal my bloody eye:

a. Wear an eye patch (the easy way out)
b. Be in a perpetual state of winking
c. Be in a perpetual state of drunkeness, so both my eyes and face will be red

Notes for the Future

When I have kids, I’m tempted to give them bizarre names so they can have twitter.com/firstname or firstname@gmail.com if they so please.

I am mostly just upset that someone beat me to facebook.com/mindy.

New Design!

Recently I purchased a new Macbook Pro, which I named Hermes after the Futurama character, and I love it (my iPhone is named Leelu after the narwhal, so I thought I should stick with the theme). I have dinner with Hermes, I look forward to coming home from work just to be with Hermes, and I enjoy making public appearances in cafes with Hermes. I often read over and try to memorize his specs, just as I would do with any Facebook crush’s profile.

I thought we should work on a project together, so I sat down a month ago and designed this site. I would count this as a re-design, but that would imply that my previous layout was an actual attempt at design, when it was really me pasting a bunch of Textpattern tags in a textarea.

I’m still ironing out the kinks! And I’m sorry PC people– this site has only been tested on a Mac. I spend far too much time in Parallels at work so I’m rather tired of it by the time I get home.

about

Hi, I'm Mindy. People who meet me and then happen to stumble upon my blog are usually surprised that I have things to say because I'm quiet. Yes, I actually have thoughts. I have feelings and emotions too, believe it or not. more ↓

People who know me will say that I’m loud, too nice for my own good, and show signs of someone with a mild case of autism.

I grew up with two older brothers and no friends, which means my childhood was spent bouncing between PC, NES, and Playstation games. I consider myself a casual gamer– I never leave home without my DS. My favorite video game character will always be Quina Quen from Final Fantasy 9.

Once upon a time, I studied abroad in Paris and loved it so, so much. I think about Paris on a bi-hourly basis. I now live in San Francisco, but hope to move to New York someday.

The name of my website comes from a Teen Girl Squad episode.

I love pugs, Kinder Eggs, traveling, and shy people.

I don’t like spiders, horseradish, driving, and being shy. less ↑
