Happy New Year!
Usually I write down my resolutions for the new year and forget about them until 365 days later when they are emailed to me automatically. This year I didn’t receive anything in my inbox or spam, so either I hit a lull in my life last December and didn’t have any goals, or maybe the service I used has retired. So here they are for safekeeping:
1. Apply to grad school
I’m still flip-flopping about this. I don’t know if it’s worth the debt, but I figured that I should worry about it if/when I get accepted.
2. Be more healthy, lose some weight
I’ll try to limit myself to 1 bagel a week, for starters.
3. Not dwell on my life in Paris so much
I spend a ridiculous amount of time reliving my life in Paris, afraid that I’m going to forget all the things I loved about it, like the yogurt aisle at the supermarket that stretched on forever or that I could see the Eiffel Tour from my bedroom. Since Alzheimer’s runs in the family, I think I should take more pictures and dwell much less.
4. Travel to at least 5 new cities
Hopefully non-American, but I’ll settle for American too. The biggest disappointment last year was the lack of traveling.
5. Take better care of this blog
Maybe I’ll update this once a month instead of once a year.
6. Not get robbed
In 2006 I was robbed at an ATM in Paris, and also again in 2007 in Los Angeles. My best friends took me out to dinner for my birthday at Hatfield’s, which I loved, and later on at the end of the night, the 6 of us (3 boys and 3 girls) were surrounded by 10 boys with guns who wanted our money. Thankfully no one was hurt, just shaken and poorer, but I’m a little worried that this is becoming a constant in my life.
7. Be more productive— read more, play games less
My DS takes up most of my free time. My brother bought me Contra 4 for my birthday/Christmas and unlocked Contra Classic, which was my favorite game growing up. But the bad thing is that I can play this game over and over and never get sick of it. When I’m not playing with my DS, I’m either playing Scrabulous or Boggle on Facebook.
